real life girl fighting evil: coy mathis and her family
Let’s make one thing perfectly clear. If you identify as a girl and you do something- anything- to help make the world a slightly better place, congratulations! You’re a girl fighting evil.
In this case, we have a six year old transgender girl named Coy Mathis who was told she wasn’t allowed to use the girl’s restroom in school anymore. This didn’t sit well with her parents (let’s hear it for a mom fighting evil) and they took it to court. In June, the Mathis family won their case.
Of course, Coy isn’t the only transgender girl doing her part to make the world a better place: Jazz is a transgender girl who made waves when she took part in an Oprah documentary, Bobby Montoya made news when she joined a Girl Scout troupe.
Let’s celebrate these girls and their families- and the others who are not presented in the news- who are doing their part to make a place for themselves and other girls in the world.
